Maija Lassila

Since the beginning of her studies Maija Lassila has been interested in the themes concerning human and non-human relationship, people's own landscapes, and the influence of larges-scale resource extraction for these relationships and landscapes. She has continued with these interests and recently focused on mining in her doctoral studies of anthropology at the University of Helsinki. She is at the same time pursuing her master's degree in painting at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and hopes to connect both her anthropological and artistic ambitions in the future.
