Emma Louise Backe is a PhD student in Anthropology at George Washington University. With a certificate in Global Gender Policy, Emma’s research in medical anthropology focuses on the politics of crisis, care and chronicity among survivors of sexual violence. She serves as a sexual violence advocate in Washington DC, in addition to managing The Geek Anthropologist.
