Tim Thurston’s research examines ethnic minority traditions, languages and cultures in contemporary China, with an emphasis on Tibetan comedy in the post-Mao period. He completed his Ph.D. at the Ohio State University and is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
