Originally a graphic designer, Tehua turned to texture, volume, hand-made drawing in her search for more intimate and tangible means of expression. Having completing her training in ceramic work in France ten years ago, she further developed her aesthetic and colourful approach to ceramics. Her approach reflects her sensitivity to the cultural legacies of popular arts. Additionally, her approach is shaped by the arts and crafts that she discovered during her travels, so much so that she has become a collector of small handmade items, every piece forged and cherished with the care usually reserved for valuable jewellery. This this is also how she perceives her ceramic pieces, which she seeks to imbue with delicacy and detail, which can be enjoyed and looked at during their everyday use, inviting subtle journeys (into other times, other worlds).
