Simone Maddanu obtained his PhD at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris. He took part (2009-2010) in the Europublicislam team 7th Frame Program project (ERC), as a postdoctoral research fellow. He is currently a Research Fellow at Sapienza University of Rome (DiSS) and a member of CADIS (EHESS/CNRS).
