Sara Geenen
Sara Geenen is professor at the Institute of Development Policy (IOB), University of Antwerp (Belgium) and codirector of the Centre d’Expertise en Gestion Minière (CEGEMI) at the Université Catholique de Bukavu (Democratic Republic of Congo). Her current research interests lie in the global and local development dimensions of extractivist projects, focusing, among others, on global regulatory systems, labour markets, informality and precarity, social protection and health in artisanal and small-scale mining. She has authored African artisanal mining from the inside out (2015) and edited Global gold production touching ground (2020).
