Petra Rethmann is Professor of Anthropology at McMaster University, and the former Director of its Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition. Her books include Tundra Passages, Cultural Autonomy, Russia: Anthropological Insights, and Extraordinary Anthropology. She is currently working on a monograph on art and life-writing, as well as a critical study on the future of liberal democracies.
