Katie Numi Usher
Katie Numi Usher studied Art at the Escuela Superior de Artes de Yucatán, in México. Since returning to Belize, she has been exploring blackness and black female erasure, whilst deconstructing the colonial mindset through art. She uses social networks as virtual galleries. She created a selfie album on Facebook called 'el Fleco' which later on inspired the e-Book of the same name written by Belizean artist Yasser Musa (March 4, 2011). From 2014 to 2017, she was part of the editorial team and an author of the culture e-magazine BAFFU, an electronic magazine which covered Belizean contemporary visual art and literature. Together with the Image Factory Art Foundation, she created the LAB, an experimental space for creators to present work/proposals in a rapid-fire style and to showcase the robustness of Belizean contemporary art.
