Karin Ahlberg
Karin Ahlberg is a social anthropologist focusing on maritime and more-than-human themes. Ahlberg gained her doctoral degree in 2017 from SOAS, University of London. Her PhD thesis delves into entanglements between tourism, statecraft and national image curation in Egypt from the 1990s to 2013. Her current research project The Environmental Afterlife of the Suez Canal explores the effects and affects of tropical marine species influx to the Mediterranean Sea. Ahlberg is based at the Department of Social Anthropology, Stockholm University and the Department of Anthropology and Cultural Research, University of Bremen. She is also the co-PI for the research project BIOrdinary with home at Stockholm University.
