Faye Ginsburg
Faye Ginsburg is David Kriser Professor of Anthropology at New York University where she directs the Center for Media, Culture & History; the Graduate Program in Culture & Media; and co-directs the Center for Disability Studies. She is author/editor of five books, including the multiple award-winning Contested Lives: The Abortion Debate in an American Community, the edited collection Media Worlds: Anthropology on New Terrain (with Lila Abu-Lughod and Brian Larkin), and the 2024 book Disability Worlds (with Rayna Rapp). Her collaborative research with cultural activists includes ongoing work on the politics of reproduction, Indigenous media, and disability arts and justice. She has been a recipient of many honors and awards, including a MacArthur five-year “genius” award and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
