Erik van der Vleuten has served as Chair and Professor of History of Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology since 2015. Erik has amply researched and taught about the entwined histories of technology and socio-ecological change in
an infrastructured world. In 2023-28 he coordinates, together with Evelien de Hoop, the Dutch Research Council program
Soy Stories on the connected histories and futures of two prominent envirotech controversies: the so-called Dutch nitrogen crisis and the Brazilian deforestation crisis. That program also experiments with notions of ‘transformative’ and participative ‘global’ history (i.e. multi-sited ‘historiographical intervention’).
