Deema Kaneff
Deema Kaneff has written widely on topics relating to property relations, inequalities, post-socialist transformations and global capitalism, based on long term ethnographic research in Bulgaria and Ukraine. She is author of Who Owns the Past? The Politics of Time in a 'Model' Bulgarian Village, (2004, Berghahn); co-editor of a volume titled: Global Connections and Emerging Inequalities in Europe. Perspectives on Poverty and Transnational Migration, (2011, Anthem Press); and is currently working on a forthcoming book on Globalisation in rural Ukraine. Deema is a Reader in Social Anthropology at the Centre for Russian and East European Studies, University of Birmingham, England and an Associate at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle, Germany.
