David M.R. Orr received his doctorate in social anthropology from University College London and is now Lecturer in the School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sussex. He has carried out long-term fieldwork in Peru, focusing on madness and mental health in highland communities. His current research interests centre on the development and impact of global mental health initiatives in low and middle income countries, and on the conceptualisation and practice of safeguarding adults at risk of harm in the UK.
