Conor Gearty
Conor Gearty is a Professor of Human Rights Law at the London School of Economics. He received his LLB and Ph.D. from Cambridge University after studying Law at the University College Dublin. His recent books include The Cambridge Companion to Human Rights Law (co ed. Costas Douzinas, 2012) and Debating Social Rights (with collaboration of V. Mantouvalou). Gearty’s work has focused on the dilemma that terrorism poses to civil liberties; regarding this question he published Terrorism (1996) and Can Human Rights Survive (2006). Gearty has also written regularly in newspapers and periodical, including in particular for the London Review of Books, and The Tablet for which he is legal correspondent.
