Chika Watanabe is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester. Her research and teaching interests revolve around issues of development, temporality, and disaster preparedness. She is the author of Becoming One: Religion, Development, and Environmentalism in a Japanese NGO in Myanmar (University of Hawai’i Press, 2019). She co-leads the project Patchwork Ethnography with Dr Gökçe Günel.
