Carrie Ryan is a DPhil Candidate at the University of Oxford's School for Social and Cultural Anthropology. Her research focuses on the triangulation of risk, care and death in late-capitalist America. She spent two years in Los Angeles living and working at a Continuing Care Retirement Community for her fieldwork and, while there, also explored the development of death midwifery and death consciousness movements across the city.
