Dr Aivita Putniņa is associate professor and head of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Latvia. She is a medical anthropologist researching reproductive health and violence, as well as related issues to gender and the LGBT community. Currently, she leads a nationally-funded project exploring non-violence in Latvia (lzp-2018-1-0068) and participates in a COST action on family support in Europe.
