Aimar Ventsel is a senior research fellow at the Department of Ethnology of the University of Tartu. He has conducted fieldwork in the Russian Far East, East Germany and Kazakhstan on various topics including youth cultures and ethnicity, regional policies, transformation of the former Socialist economy or Russian indigenous minority politics. Currently he is working on a monograph on reflections of the post-Socialist transformation in East German punk and skinhead subcultures.
