The Quintuple A: Anthropological Alliance Against Academic Assholery

Allegra editor Faduma Abukar Mursal writes about... Gaza, Critical Voices, and Colonial Violence

Yes, we know. We fill your mailbox with posts on Gaza. We fill it with colonial violence. We fill it with worrying harassment of critical voices in academia.

We do that to compensate for the silenced critical voices. And, for others’ lack of critical posts. For those erased by some universities. For those ignored by our politicians.

We worry that if we stop, people forget. Worse, that it will be business as usual, like the atrocities taking place in Sudan, in the Congo, Myanmar, Ethiopia, West Papua to name a few... We worry that if we do not contextualise, we’re also sucked into a senseless public panic with tragic consequences. We worry that if we stop, we lose sight of the urgency of the situation, the oppression, the human sufferings and maybe our own humanity.

So yes we ‘over-post’. We want to amplify, and welcome you to join the conversation on Gaza. And on ongoing warfare, and their effects.
