Allegra editor Ian M. Cook writes about... takeovers
Did anyone see the news about American satirical news outlet The Onion buying the bankrupt conspiracy theory hate site InfoWars? We did. And it inspired us! We have made a number of offers for morally bankrupt anthropology publications. We'll convert our moral capital into financial capital at the Bank of Bourdieu and expand our empire over the next months.
In other takeover news, Jon has replaced me (Ian) as Editor-in-Chief. We do this every couple of years or so. We all gather round and ritually fight one another with knives to determine who it will be.
In other ritual news, it was great to see so many people at the Allegra party in Barcelona during EASA. We're sorry the police turned up. Our local friend suggested inviting everyone to a square to party there. And so we did. We reiterate our offer to pay for anyone's fines. Except Bob Szakacs' fine.
Finally, we have loads going on at Allegra. There's a film screening this week (Khabur on 28 November at 13:30 CET), we have loads of amazing new content and are planning to continue the collective push for radical optimism (watch this space!). |
